Saskatchewan-Shastri Conference and Lecture Grants (SK-SCLG) 2025–26

Call for Applications

Overview

The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI), in partnership with the Ministry of Advanced Education, Government of Saskatchewan, invites applications for the Saskatchewan-Shastri Conference and Lecture Grants (SK-SCLG).
Offered under the Saskatchewan–Shastri Engaging Saskatchewan in India (SK- SESKI) initiative, this program is designed to promote academic exchange and cultural engagement.
It provides funding support to organize conferences, and lecture series, delivered in hybrid mode, to ensure wider participation across Saskatchewan regions in Canada and India.

Objectives

The SK-SCLG program aims to:

  • Strengthen linkages between Saskatchewan’s publicly funded post- secondary institutions and SICI Member Institutions in India.
  • Facilitate dialogue among scholars, faculty, and students to advance shared academic and cultural interests.
  • Encourage collaboration that involves industry, civil society, andgovernment stakeholders alongside academic institutions.
  • Expand opportunities for Saskatchewan institutions, particularly regional colleges and polytechnic, to enhance their international engagement with India.

Grant Categories and Value

  • Conference Grants: 2 awards of CAD $1,500 each
  • Lecture Grants: 4 awards of CAD $500 each
  • Events must be organized in hybrid mode (in-person + virtual participation).

Eligibility

  • Applicants from Canada must be full-time faculty or instructors from the following Saskatchewan institutions:
    • University of Saskatchewan
    • University of Regina
    • Saskatchewan Polytechnic
    • Carlton Trail College
    • Great Plains College
    • North West College
    • Southeast College
    • Suncrest College
  • Applicants from India must be full-time faculty or administrators at a SICI Indian member institution in good standing.

Note:

  • Eligible Saskatchewan institutions that are not yet SICI members—including Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Carlton Trail College, Great Plains College, North West College, Southeast College, and Suncrest College—are strongly encouraged to apply for these grants.
  • The University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina, as long- standing SICI members, are encouraged to apply while also taking a guiding role in supporting and partnering with newer Saskatchewan institutions.
  • Indian Member Institutions, are encouraged to design proposals that actively include Saskatchewan’s provincial colleges and Saskatchewan Polytechnic, ensuring broad participation from across the province.
  • Institutions may also consider joint applications or combining grants to host shared SCLG events, thereby extending the reach and impact of the program.
  • This collaborative approach promotes leadership, mentorship, and inclusion, ensuring that the benefits of the grants are widely shared and that both provincial networks and India–Canada academic linkages are strengthened.

Key Dates

  • Application Deadline: October 30, 2025 (11:00 pm MDT)
  • Grant Disbursement: November–December 2025 (85% of funds)
  • Event Completion: March 31, 2026 (final report due; 15% of funds released)

Applicants must submit a complete application package (Application Form, Institutional Endorsement, Proposal, Budget, CVs) as a single PDF to siciapp@ucalgary.ca with subject line: “SK-SCLG Application 2025–26.”
