According to a report by ‘Hootsuite and We Are Social, 2022’, there are 4.74 billion people on social media networks that constitute more than half (59.3%) of the people on earth. Such a boom in social media offers an opportunity for individuals, businesses, governments, social organisations and communities to share, connect and communicate with the outer world without any geographical boundaries. In cyberspace, around 20 social media platforms are having more than 300 million active users including Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, WeChat, Tiktok, Twitter etc. However, among all social media platforms, Facebook is the most popular social media platform having 2.93 billion monthly active users. Businesses whether large, medium, small or start-ups have already started leveraging the power of Facebook in their marketing plans depending upon their target audience. The Facebook family now known as ‘Meta’ has many apps and services such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network, WhatsApp and others which help businesses to manage their social media presence across the channels. Facebook advertising is becoming the first choice of brands because of multiple benefits such as global reach, precise target audience, attractive ad formats, better return on investment, easy integrations etc. Therefore, businesses and organizations need to upgrade their skills in Facebook advertising to create more visibility, conversion and retention of their customers. Dr. Tejinderpal Singh is an Associate Professor at University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh. His teaching and research areas include digital marketing, data analytics, educational technology and qualitative research. He has an industry experience of more than 3 years.
