Membership in the Shastri Institute is open to academic institutions of higher learning in Canada and India, with such credentials as approved by the Executive Council.

If something comes up, can I split up, defer or extend my India Studies Fellowship?

How do I obtain a research visa for my India Studies Fellowship?

Fellowships for successful applicants are subject to approval by the Indian consulate or High Commission closest to your city of residence:

Who is considered a “Scholar” and would be eligible to apply for a Scholar Travel Subsidy Grant?

Anyone who is affiliated full-time with an academic institution of higher learning is considered a Scholar under the terms of this grant. This includes undergraduate students, postgraduate students, professors, librarians etc.

The application requirements call for multiple copies of my application documents. Does every copy of my application documents have to be an original?

No. One original and multiple photocopies of each application document will suffice.

Can I have my Professor send you a reference letter directly?

The application form asks for my university transcripts. Can I have my university send you my transcripts directly?

When can I expect to be able to travel after being awarded an India Studies fellowship?
