The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) invites applications from scientists, researchers, and faculty members of its member institutions in India and Canada to collaborate with SICI in organising academic events that strengthen Indo-Canadian ties and foster innovative collaborations.
Through sponsorship of academic events, such as Conferences, Symposia, Workshops, and Seminars in both countries, SICI seeks to build lasting bi-national relationships across academia, government, industry, and civil society. These collaborations aim to deepen mutual understanding among Canadian and Indian scholars while addressing shared global challenges and opportunities.
Recognising that both the Government of India and the Government of Canada have identified research and innovation as central to their national priorities, SICI especially welcomes proposals in areas where these interests converge.
These include following:
- Traditional Knowledge Systems
- Critical Minerals
- Semiconductors and Advanced Electronics
SICI particularly encourages proposals that bring together subject-matter experts from both nations to create meaningful platforms for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives. Such collaborations between SICI and applicant institutions will also serve as opportunities to build the capacity of scholars and scientists, particularly from lesser-known or less-capacitated institutions, thereby enriching and strengthening their intellectual abilities and research potential. These events are further envisioned to actively nurture and strengthen the next generation of scholars, enabling them to become domain experts who will carry forward and sustain binational academic collaborations.
Key Features:
