SHASTRI CONFERENCE & LECTURE SERIES GRANT (SCLSG) 2025-26

Call for Applications

The Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (SICI) invites proposals from scientists, researchers, and faculty members of its member institutions in India and Canada to strengthen academic ties and foster innovative collaborations.

Through sponsorship of academic events (Conference, Symposia, Workshop, Seminar) in both countries, SICI seeks to build lasting bi-national relationships across academia, government, industry, and civil society. These collaborations aim to deepen mutual understanding among Canadian and Indian scholars working on shared challenges and opportunities.

SICI particularly encourages proposals that bring together subject-matter experts from both nations to create meaningful platforms for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives. These events are also envisioned to actively engage young researchers- the next generation of scholars who will carry forward and strengthen Indo-Canadian academic relations.

Proposals are welcome across all domains of knowledge, with special encouragement for projects in the following priority areas:

  • Agriculture and Climate Resilience
  • Health- including One Health, Mental Health, and Public Health
  • Tribal/First Nation Studies

  • Ocean and Marine life, including Fisheries, Oil & Gas, and Clean Energy

  • Arts and Culture, Conservation and Preservation of Heritage
