Shastri Best Research Paper Award for Students - Agriculture

Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute invites students pursuing education in agriculture to submit their papers for the Best Paper Award in Agriculture. The objective of the competition is to identify outstanding papers in the field of Agriculture. Papers will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the relevant field.  

SICI will publish the best paper in its newsletter and official website.


  • The applicant should be from Agricultural Sciences
  • The publishing date of the journal must be between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023;
  • Papers co-authored by students and faculty are eligible;
  • A paper jointly co-authored by a Canadian and Indian researcher will be seen favorably.
  •  Individuals should not be the first author on more than one submission to the competition.

Application Process

  • A cover letter to the Programme Officer clearly stating the paper's significance to the discipline, contribution in conceiving and carrying out the research, and evidence of why the paper should be considered for the award.
  • A copy of the published paper with an indication of the published date;
  • The cover letter should be a maximum of 350 words, no longer than one page.

Evaluation Criteria

Papers will be evaluated on overall quality and potential significance to the field based on the information requested in the cover letter from the first author. 

  1. Theoretical contribution in terms of research question being investigated, and filling the gap in the literature-20 marks
  2. Methodology adopted – 10 marks
  3. Practical relevance for life– 10 marks
  4. Paves way for future research – 5 marks
  5. Writing style– 5 marks

Value of Award:  The winner of the competition will receive a prize of INR 10,000/-
